Public Sector (FIPPA) FOI Workshop Session 3: Discretionary Exceptions to Disclosure

This session will provide a review of discretionary exceptions to disclosure, including, policy advice, records of in-camera meetings & legal advice exceptions to disclosure (s. 13 and s. 14).

This is a hands-on session. Attendees will learn:

• What factors should be considered when deciding to release certain information
• Handling notes and deliberations from in-camera meetings and
• Practical ways of handling certain types of records, including document drafts and communications containing legal advice.

Attendees will participate in mock redaction exercises so that they can practice applying the knowledge imparted in this session.
