Public Sector (FIPPA) FOI Workshop Session 1: Introduction to FOI Requests & Managing Requests

This introductory session will provide an overview of the FIPPA FOI process including:

• The purpose of FOI legislation
• Managing large and difficult requests
• Determining obligations to respond: Exceptions / Custody and control; Transferring requests
• Calculating and managing timelines
• The duty to assist and conducting and documenting an adequate search
• Assessing fees, conducting fee estimates, and fee waivers and
• File management.
