Harris practises in the area of workplace ethics, and takes its own responsibilities seriously.

We actively support and contribute to a number of charitable organizations. We provide annual scholarships to high school students around the province, and regularly host high school work experience students.

We support our lawyers as they contribute their time and expertise as board members in a diverse range of community service, athletic and arts organizations. Our lawyers are also highly active in the professional community, speaking at conferences and at universities, and being active members of organizations.

We do our part in sustainability: we relocated offices to a certified green building, limit the use of paper, have an extensive recycling program and consciously reduce the use of power. We also encourage our employees to take transit to work by offering TransLink’s Employer Pass Program, and offer facilities for people who bike to work.

Harris was founded by ten partners who wanted to create the best labour and employment firm in the country. We decided to practise only labour and employment law, to focus all our energy on those issues, and offer the most knowledgeable and thorough advice. It meant we could make our decisions about how to practise this specific kind of law, and therefore offer the best service, and create the most efficient and flexible business model.

We’ve grown to attract leading lawyers from every practice area, and to serve the broadest range of industries. We continue to enrich our firm with new practice areas that stay ahead of the emerging needs of our clients and the ongoing changes in business and culture.

Harris is committed to offering its clients regional and national solutions, and has relationships with firms across the country.

We are also partners with Hicks Morley, an Ontario-based firm with more than 110 lawyers in five cities that devotes its practice exclusively to representing employers on human resources law and advocacy issues. Though we each remain entirely independent, this affiliation enables to us gain a strong national presence, and to provide enhanced service and greater value to our clients through our shared knowledge, contacts and resources.
