Prominent arbitrator Steve Kelleher was appointed Chair of the BC Labour Relations Board today. Kelleher was Chair of the Board some years ago, prior to enactment of the Labour Relations Code. Kelleher’s appointment follows the January resignation of Keith Oleksiuk amid controversy, and a long search for a replacement. Most recently, Stan Lanyon, another former Chair, has been in the position on an acting basis. The minister of labour also confirmed the appointment of Irene Holden as Associate Chair of the Mediation Division and Lisa Hansen as Registrar. In addition, two new Vice Chairs were appointed. Ken Saunders has worked for employers’ organizations in the public and private sectors. Catherine McCreary was most recently a staff lawyer for Teamsters Local 213.
