Public Education and Flexibility and Choice Act Coming Into Force

August 2, 2002
Share

Section 8(c) and (d) of the Public Education and Flexibility and Choice Act will come into force on September 1, 2002 under BC Reg 230/2002 issued on July 26, 2002. They were previously to have come into force on August 1, 2002 under BC Reg. 168/2002. These provisions will amend the School Act by prohibiting the teacher collective agreement from containing restrictions on class sizes, staffing ratios, case or teaching loads and related matters. The change in effective date was made in order to permit arbitration to complete the task of amending the current provincial teacher agreement to bring it into compliance.
