The Ontario Legislature has given third reading to Bill 81, commonly referred to as the Safe Schools Act. The statute gives the minister the power to set a Code of Conduct applying to all persons in schools, strengthens the disciplinary authority of school boards and provides for mandatory suspension or expulsion of students in certain circumstances. We will provide a more detailed analysis of this statute in the near future.
