Ontario Safe Schools Act Given Royal Assent

The Ontario Safe Schools Act was given Royal Assent and most of the statute came into force on June 23. The statute gives the minister the power to set a Code of Conduct applying to all persons in schools, strengthens the disciplinary authority of school boards and provides for mandatory suspension or expulsion of students in certain circumstances.
