Starting June 1, 2026, the new general minimum wage will increase from the current rate of $17.85 to $18.25 per hour.
The same percentage increase of just over 2.1% also applies to certain prescribed classes of employees, including resident caretakers, live-in home-support workers, live-in camp leaders, and app-based ride-hailing and delivery service workers. Minimum agricultural piece rates for hand-harvested crops will increase by the same percentage on December 31, 2026.
Historically, the general minimum wage in the Province of British Columbia was manually adjusted. Starting in 2024, the general minimum wage in British Columbia automatically adjusts on June 1 of each year based on the All-Items Consumer Price Index for British Columbia as set out in section 16.2 of the Employment Standards Act.
