Back to Work Legislation Receives Royal Assent

On June 20, 2001, the BC Government’s back to work legislation in the health care sector received Royal Assent and came into force. The Health Care Services Continuation Act allows the Minister of Labour to order a cooling off period temporarily ending the long Nurses’ strike and the strike by paramedical professionals. The Act also directs the parties to resume negotiations.
