As a general proposition, Canadians are missing more days of work than they used to, and absenteeism is costing employers money in the form of lost productivity, disrupted workplaces, lower worker morale, and so on. In light of this rising trend and continuing developments in the law concerning attendance management, Harris partner Adriana Wills will address key issues in this introductory seminar, including how to:

  • Implement an attendance management program
  • Identify and distinguish between culpable and non-culpable absenteeism
  • Determine when, what and how much information can be requested from an employee, and the consequences for employees when they fail to provide information
  • Meet the employer's duty to accommodate in an attendance management context.
