In this section of our introductory seminar, we will introduce attendees to the basics of human rights law including:

  • Prohibited grounds for discrimination under the Human Rights Code
  • Overview of the human rights process
  • An introduction to the duty to accommodate
  • Dealing with 'invisible' disabilities
  • Strategies for handling human rights complaints

Duty To Accommodate

This section of the seminar will provide an overview on accommodation with the latest legal developments and their impact on the workplace, including:

  • The employer's duty to accommodate - When does it arise and what does it require?
  • How do you know when you've reached the point of undue hardship?
  • What must be accommodated, and what need not be?
  • What about the accommodation process? Can the employer be liable based on process alone?
