Report Published on Annual Disclosure of Union Salaries

The Ontario Ministry of Labour has published its report on the annual disclosure by unions of their salaries. Under the Labour Relations Act, 1995, unions must disclose the incomes of union officers and employees whose annual salaries and taxable benefits exceed $100,000. The report released recently publishes the disclosures for the year 2000. Publication of the report for 2001 has been delayed by the public service strike. By far the most generous union employer is the Canadian Auto Workers. Of the 260 union officers and employees topping the $100,000 mark, CAW disclosed a whopping 89. Three teacher unions reported an equally impressive total of 80. Three union employees topped the $150,000 mark in 2000.
