Be yourself. The most effective way to make a great
impression and to put your best foot forward is to show us the "real
you". We want to find out what it is about you that makes you a
great person to join our firm.
Be prepared. Attend your interview with a basic level of knowledge about the firm and the lawyers who work there. Also, ensure you plan your interview day appropriately to give yourself sufficient time between interviews for travel, eating and breaks. Being prepared and organized on interview day will allow you to shine at each interview you attend.
Be interested. Harris & Company is actively looking for students who have a high level of interest in our area of practice. We would like to hear about why the practice of labour and employment law appeals to you, and we are happy to answer any questions you may have about why we share your interest.
Be inquisitive. The interview process is designed to allow both the firm and the candidate to learn about each other and gauge their respective levels of interest. Come to your interview with intelligent questions about the firm, our area of practice, and the lawyers who work here. Nothing shows genuine interest more than a good question.
Be confident. The interview process is your opportunity to sell yourself and explain to us why you would be an invaluable asset to the firm. First impressions are very important, and setting out your strengths, while maintaining awareness of areas you need to develop, is a sure fire way to impress our Student Committee.
Be professional. Remember, we are looking for someone who will represent our firm in meetings with clients, other counsel, adjudicators and staff at courts and administrative tribunals. Your interview is an opportunity to demonstrate to us that you know how to conduct yourself in a professional environment.
