Andy is a graduate of the University of British Columbia where he obtained his Bachelor of Commerce (with Honours), majoring in Industrial Relations Management, in 1980 and his Bachelor of Laws in 1988.

Andy was called to the BC Bar in 1989 and since then has focussed his law practice on providing strategic advice and representation to employers in the areas of labour relations, collective bargaining, employment, occupational health and safety, human rights and privacy law. In those fields, Andy has represented both private and public sector employers involved in a wide range of activities, including forestry, mining, construction, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, property management, retail, local government, health care, education, hospitality, and the arts. In addition to his private practice experience, Andy spent three years as in-house counsel at the BC Labour Relations Board where he obtained in-depth exposure to labour law issues that have allowed him to better serve his clients in labour board, arbitration and other administrative tribunal and court proceedings.

Prior to entering law school Andy worked for five years as a human resources representative in the hospital industry where he gained valuable insight into the types of issues faced by labour relations and human resources practitioners as well as extensive experience in the day-to-day management of such issues. Andy routinely relies on that experience to provide his clients with practical cost-effective solutions to their labour relations and human resources issues.

Andy regularly speaks on labour, human rights and occupational health and safety related topics at conferences and client focused management training seminars.
