Harris & Company is participating in the 2003 Festival of Trees being held in the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Vancouver. Fifty decorated Christmas trees are on display until January 4, 2004. Should you wish, you can vote for your favourite tree by making a small minimum donation of $5.00. All proceeds from the Festival of Trees will benefit BC Children’s Hospital.

In October, 2003, Eric Harris, a partner of our Firm, was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers at the Annual General Meeting of the College in Montreal.
Founded in 1950, the College is composed of selected members of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years trial experience before they can be considered for Fellowship.
Membership in the College cannot exceed one per cent of the total lawyer population of any state or province. There are currently approximately 5,200 members in the United States and Canada, including active Fellows, Emeritus Fellows, Judicial Fellows (those who ascended to the bench after their induction) and Honorary Fellows.

We are pleased to announce that Terrence (TJ) Scmaltz has joined Harris & Company. TJ graduated from the University of Ottawa 1999 with a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Political Science and History. In June 2002 he received a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) as well as a Bachelor of Civil Laws (BCL) from McGill University.
TJ was called to the Bar in the summer of 2003. TJ has an extensive background in aviation as a licensed pilot for both powered aircraft and gliders. He is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association.
