On March 30, 2004, Geoffrey Litherland presented a paper on "The Physically Disabled or Addicted Employee: What Are Your Obligations Now?" at a seminar hosted by The Canadian Institute in Toronto. The seminar considered a variety of issues surrounding the employer's duty to accommodate disability in today's workplace. We are pleased to announce that Keith Mitchell has joined Harris & Company as a Partner. Keith received his B.Comm. and LL.B. from the University of British Columbia in 1987, and his graduate degree from Oxford in 1988. After graduating, Keith was a Law Clerk in the Supreme Court of Canada and has received extensive training in mediation and alternative dispute resolution. Before joining Harris & Company, Keith was a partner in a large national firm.
Keith advises and represents clients throughout the education sector and regularly appears before arbitration panels, administrative, regulatory and disciplinary bodies as well as in all levels of Canadian courts including the Supreme court of Canada.
Keith has been an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Law at UBC and a lecturer at numerous continuing education programs. He has written extensively on education related matters.

Colin Gibson was a member of the faculty at the Canadian Institute Western Canadian Advanced Forum on Employment held in Vancouver on February 23 and 24, 2004. Colin delivered a paper on Recent Developments in Employment Standards affecting employers in Western Canada.

On February 21, 2004 Harris & Company staff and lawyers participated in the 25th Anniversary Bowl for Big Brothers Classic. The campaign helped raise funds used to develop and maintain Big Brothers mentoring programs for children and youth in Greater Vancouver and Squamish.
